The fluidised bed process is very important, e.g. when drying granules, during combustion of coal, alternative fuels or sewage sludge, and increasingly for metallurgical processes such as in ore enrichment. In many cases, the raw material is a granulate, e.g. grains of 0.5 to 1 mm. Often the raw material is available as sludge or (filter) dust. EIRICH’s granulation technology makes it possible to process a very homogeneous granulate from these raw materials and to do so with very short processing times of 3 to 5 minutes.
EIRICH mixers from 1 to 3000 l all have only one moving part , called the rotor, to granulate. Larger machines have two or more rotors. They do not require fast-acting cutting blades that are subject to wear like the type required for ploughshare mixers. Depending on the task, the rotor can rotate at speeds of more than 30 m/s. This makes it possible to generate high shear forces and distribute liquids quickly.
The hybrid mixing process allows variable speeds during one production cycle. Optionally, dry or wet mixing can be done first and only then granulation can be started. Varying the tools and speeds can have a significant impact on grain size.
