Recently, the palletizing cell for the maltodextrin filling line at Tereos (formerly Amylum) was equipped by Bascules Robbe with a new Fanuc palletizing robot. The new robot replaces an old robot that was at the end of its service life. With the new Fanuc robot, Tereos can once again rely on a solid and robust palletizing system for years to come. The robot both stacks the bags and automatically picks up the cardboard bottom sheets. Three stacking positions are provided, one-on-one roller conveyor and two fixed positions for transitional product.

Operation is very intuitive based on a Siemens touch screen. A new robotic gripper for bagged product was designed where the robot automatically takes into account a difference in thickness of the bags via a built-in laser altimeter.

The robot setup was put on test at Bascules Robbe and training for the customer’s users and instrumentation department was also provided in advance. This ensured a smooth start-up at the customer’s site with minimum production downtime.
