In the last quarter of 2015 Bruker introduces a new instrument on the market.
Handheld laser induced breakdown spectrometry (HH-LIBS) is revolutionary method for easy quantitative analysis of metal alloys. The method is very suitable for alloys containing elements with a relatively low atoom number like Be, Li, Mg, Al and Si.
Because this technique does not use an X-ray source no special license is necessary.
Applications where the unit can be used are PMI (positive material identification) and Scrap (schroot).
Because of the speed of the measurements and the simplicity the unit can be operated by everybody.
