The idea is to produce a budget- and resource-friendly drum made of thin-walled stainless steel for sectors with stringent hygienic requirements, such as the pharmaceutical and chemical industries or the biotechnology sector. Many years of product competence and expertise have led to this innovative solution: a drum manufactured using simple production methods, thin-walled material and nevertheless stable and unbreakable – the Best-Cost Drum.

Description of the drum
Thin-walled stainless steel was deliberately selected for production of the drum in order to reduce material and production costs while keeping in mind the aspects of resource conservation and economic efficiency. The Best-Cost Stainless Steel Drum is designed for single-use or dedicated-use applications, offers lower procurement costs, and can be used again without cleaning (dedicated use) or be directly disposed of or melted after single-use utilization. The drums are available as open-head drums with a lid, clamping ring and seal or as closed-head drums (with 2 bungholes). They are made of thin-walled stainless steel 1.4301. The drum diameter is 560 mm, with a volume of 200 litres.

Advantages of this innovation
The Best-Cost Stainless Steel Drum was developed with cost-efficiency and resource conservation in mind – which requires less material and offers greater environmental friendliness. The drum demonstrates the competence and expertise of Bolz intec gmbH. Among other things, through the welding of thin-walled stainless steels, including the corresponding 3.1. DIN EN 10204 documentation, assuring absolute stability and a high fracture strength of the stainless steel drum. Another economic advantage is the drum’s low procurement cost and, as already mentioned, the environmental friendliness. The material 1.4301 was used for this drum, though higher-quality materials such as 1.4404 or 1.4539 could be used, depending on the area of application.
In addition, a large amount of resources are conserved through the use of the Best-Cost Stainless Steel Drum because the drum directly enters the recycling process for melting or remains in the production process for dedicated use, for example. There is thus no need for any cleaning or preparation of the drum, saving considerable time and money. The patent application is underway. Hazardous goods approval for the Best-Cost Stainless Steel Drum has been applied for.

Sectors
Cross-sector use: wherever stainless steel drums are used for transporting powders or solids (open-head lidded drums) or liquids (closed-head drums with bungs), e.g. in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, or the biotechnology sector, to name but a few.
