10 – 11 March at The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology, Chatham Maritime, Kent UK

Take a look at the issues surrounding the safe handling and storage of bulk materials in ports and on the sea.

Delegates are given the chance to discuss real life issues and to determine best practice for future developments.

12 March: Optional practical session in the on-site Labs where delegates can test same cargoes under different conditions, to see the potential dangers presented at port by not knowing about the materials before handling/transporting them.

Course presentations include:

•Conveying technologies (pneumatic vs belt)
•Storage and discharge technologies (silos, flat stores, stacking etc)
•Loading/unloading control (weighing, controlling ship bending etc)

•Developments in automation and autonomous vehicles

•Controlling cargo damage (particle degradation, spoilage, water damage etc)
•Wear protection and maintenance
•Cargo characterisation for handleability and other issues

The course is aimed at Stevedores, Operations supervisors, Port managers, Ships Masters, Port developers, Cargo superintendents, Equipment suppliers, Design consultants – anyone who is involved with handling/transporting bulk materials via the sea.
