Within industrial dust extraction and filtration systems, limited installation height often poses an obstacle to the use of large-volume filters. Poeth developed the UCS rotating discharge bottom for this purpose, a compact but highly effective solution that is particularly suitable for cyclonic filters and situations where high efficiency must be combined with minimal installation space.

Technical function in filter systems

With a traditional hopper bottom, there is a risk of accumulation, bridging, or poorly flowing powders. Furthermore, the required height of the hopper is frequently a problem. The UCS discharge bottom prevents this by providing controlled mechanical discharge without requiring a high installation height or additional discharge equipment.

Construction and operating principle

The UCS consists of a rigid, stationary housing under which a slowly rotating sliding or roller plate is mounted. This rotating plate performs a gradual shearing movement that actively transports the material towards the central outlet.
The rotational speed of the rotating plate is low but constant, which limits wear and tear and makes the system very low-maintenance.

Explosion-proof and ATEX application

An important advantage of the combination of cyclonic filter + UCS bottom is that this configuration can be made explosion-proof relatively easily. The construction of the UCS allows both the filter housing and the discharge bottom to be calculated for pressure shock resistance (Pred).
This makes the system particularly suitable for ATEX environments where there is a risk of dust explosions.

Applicability and dimensions

The UCS rotating discharge bottom is supplied as standard in a wide range of diameters to suit various filter designs and flow rates:

Ø 850 mm
Ø 1200 mm
Ø 1400 mm
Ø 1600 mm
Ø 1900 mm
Ø 2100 mm
In addition, customer-specific designs are possible, for example, for unusual construction heights, non-standard connection flanges, or integration into existing installations.

Conclusion
The UCS rotary discharge bottom is a technically robust solution for situations where high filtration capacity must be combined with a minimum installation height. Thanks to its controlled discharge mechanism, easy integration into explosion-proof systems, and availability in multiple diameters, the UCS offers a highly reliable and compact discharge method for modern dust filter installations.
