You would like to implement a belt scale! But which model is the best for the application?

Rice Lake Weighing Systems Europe B.V., from Heteren, The Netherlands, (formerly Master Engineering B.V.) is for many years now specialist in the area of belt scales and is one of the market leaders in The Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe.

The sales specialist of Rice Lake is getting almost every day a request for quotation of a belt scale. Before the quote can be made, first all data must be clear. Questions like product, capacity in kg or ton/hour and belt width seems to be logic.

But the following issues are also very important:

Belt speed.
The belt speed must be according the capacity! When the belt speed is high within a low capacity, a problem will occur, because on the weigh frame we need enough load in kg to ensure a good weighing result.
Inclination of the transport belt.
The steeper the belt is, the more difficult it will be to achieve a good weighing result. And it is not allowed that the product will glide downwards.
Belt length.
A short belt will have influence on the accuracy!
Execution of the transport belt.
How is the belt design? Does the belt has flat rollers or idlers? Does have the idlers two- or three rollers? All issues which will have effect on the choice of the weigh frame model!

Weighing accuracy.
Maybe the most important question! What is the requested accuracy? The accuracy is a percentage of the flow (example: +/-1%). Can the wish for a certain accuracy be combined with the application?

Approval.
Can the belt scale be used for “legal for trade”? Will be the weighing result used for invoice purposes?

When everything is clear, the choice of a weigh frame can be done! Furthermore, the speed pick-up and the execution of the electronics must be done!

In a nutshell, the implementing of a belt scale is a matter for specialists!

The delivery program of Rice Lake consists Master belt scales, weigh- and dosing belts, screw weigh systems, Bulkslide flowmeter, loss-in-weight systems, impact flow meters, silo + bin weigh systems, batch systems. Furthermore, the Rice Lake bench scales, loadcells and indicators.
